Maximising The Benefits From Your Ebay About Me Page - By Stephen S Alison

eBay allows you to create an About Me Page to tell the world about yourself and your interests. The About Me Page is one of the most powerful features of eBay, but not many people seem to use it or use it to its full advantage.

In the language of eBay you can use your About Me Page to:

  • Let the eBay community know who you are;
  • Show off your fabulous finds;
  • Display your items up for bid;
  • Describe your favorite hobby;

There are of course, restrictions on the use of the About Me Page and you will need to continuously check on the ever-changing eBay policies and rules.

Do's - The About Me Page may be used to describe your seller's business, and may contain Web addresses or links to the seller's individual Web site. You may also include links to your About Me Page in your listings. However, you may not include language within those links that promotes items or other Web sites.

Don't's - Your About Me Page may not specifically promote off eBay sales or sales of items prohibited on eBay, nor may it contain links to commercial Web sites where goods from multiple sellers are aggregated by a common search engine.

Step 1 - Check out what other sellers have done with their About Me Page.

Step 2 - Set up Your About Me Page. The eBay instructions are clear, simple and easy to follow.You will need to know something about HTML. Prepare a professional About Me Page which is both sticky and which will attract visitors to your website. Strictly follow the eBay Policies and Guidelines.

Step 3 - Encourage people to visit your About Me Page by placing a link at the top or at the bottom of your auction listings and direct bidders to your About Me Page.

Step 4 - Use the eBay Policies and Guidelines to the full by describing - on your About Me Page - your business activities and providing an URL link to your website (s). Since you cannot offer items directly for sale on your About Me page, you can offer:

  • more information on your items;
  • a recommendation to a web site you like;
  • free tips on how to do something;
  • links to your other auctions selling your impulse items;
  • links to your other eBay accounts selling impulse items;

Step 5 - If you have multiple registrations with eBay, you should maximise the potential of these multiple registrations by setting up an About Me Page for every User ID you have.

Step 6 - Offer a different link to a different product on each About Me Page. The more information products you can offer on multiple About Me Pages the more potential visitors and potential income streams you will have.
