How To Have More Successful eBay Auctions - By Linda Tanner

Many first time eBay sellers have one thing in common-they are less successful than they had hoped they would be. Many sellers just can't seem to figure out why others seem to get better bids for what appears to be similar items. They do hours of research looking for the perfect item to sell, get the auction set up, and wait for the bidding to begin. Hours go by and no bids are placed. Days go by, and there are still no bids-or there are very low bids. Finally the auction ends, and it turns out to be a total failure. Considering the huge number of sellers who run eBay auctions, there are specific things you must do, and specific things you must not do if you are to be successful.

There are many reasons why auctions fail. The most common reason is that the item is not in high demand. This problem can be avoided by doing the necessary research to determine which items sell well, and which items should be avoided. This research takes a great deal of time-but in the end, you will find that it is time well spent.

Another reason for the lack of success on eBay is pricing. You need to do some research to find out what similar items have been selling for. This can be done by going to the eBay completed items section. You just type in a search for the item you are thinking about selling, go to the completed items section and find out what that same type of item has sold for recently.

You can certainly put a reserve price on your auction, but make sure your opening bid price is low. This is how you will attract potential bidders to your auction. If you set that opening bid too high, most people won't even click the link to read the description for your item. If you have done the proper research, you will have a pretty good idea what other items similar to yours have sold for. Start the bidding out low to create some interest.

When writing the title to your item, use as many keywords as you can that relate to the item. Think about what words you would type into the search area if you were looking for the same item to buy and use those words. Most buyers use the search line to find what they are looking for so put some thought into the words they might use to find your item. If no one can find your listing, they can't possibly bid on it.

Poorly written descriptions are another cause of failed auctions. Poor grammar and misspelled words drive people away. Your description is essentially your sales copy so it must be well written. If you need to, type your description into your word program and use the spelling and grammar check. When you have corrected the errors, just copy and paste it into your listing form. It will more than pay for the little bit of extra time you will spend. If there are a lot of errors in the listing, people will wonder if you will be able to fill out their address correctly and just move on to the next listing. Failing to post a picture of the item will also keep people from visiting your auction page.

Shipping prices scare people away from auctions if they are too high. Find the lowest shipping prices that you can find, and consider paying for the shipping yourself if it won't cut into your profits too much. Do not charge handling fees.

Offer great customer service for all of your auctions, and ask your buyers to give you feedback. If the items that you sell are everything that you said they would be, and you offer great customer service, you can expect wonderful feedback-and this feedback will help a great deal in your future auctions.

Linda Tanner has bought and sold items on eBay for many years and enjoys sharing what she has learned with others. If you would like to find out more information on buying and selling on eBay and other online auctions check out our website at http://auctioninfo.smmsite.com

How To Sell Domain Names On eBay - By JC Garcia

Buying and finding domain names that are brandable and have importance for any kind of commercial field can be an interesting task to say the least. Ebay is a great market place to sell these domains no matter what type they are. We are going to review how you can be successful selling domain names on ebay and not get caught in the ruts that so many with higher than normal hopes do.

The first step in preparing your self to sell a domain name on eBay is the purchasing of a domain name. In doing so there are several things to keep in mind. 'The domain name should be short'. This means that a domain name should really be no longer than eleven characters when you are looking to purchase unless two great words can be compounded to form a great sounding name.

Do not be fooled! Many selling on ebay have come to the conclusion that they can make up a domain name instantly and sell it for thousands of dollars. This is hardly a likely scenario. However you will see ebayers trying to sell their domains for thousands without any bids every time. It's important that you never fall into this trap and end up registering a bunch of useless domain names only to find out you are stuck with them and a couple hundred dollars down the drain.

The second step in the purchase of a domain is 'branding'. This means that not only should your domain be short but either have a great sound to it or have a special and unique reason for someone to buy it. An example of some names that I have seen sold for upwards of 70 dollars are, floozy.com, weezy.com, dumpy.com and so on. As you can see these names can be pronounced and have a certain type of branding to them, as well as being short in character.

A third thing you will also want to keep in mind when purchasing a domain is in choosing whether it will be a dot com or not. I highly recommend dot com until you can understand the use and branding of other extensions. The dot com is most sought after and will remain that way for a while.

Now that you have found your domain name to sell, which you could have purchased at godaddy.com for about 8 dollars with a coupon code, you should list your auction on ebay at a reasonable price. Remember, the lower you go the more bidders will be tempted to bid on your auction which can drive the price higher to your expectations. But also keep in mind that you could be losing money if you put your auction at too low of a price to start. Its best then to find a middle ground between cost and reasonableness.

Over time you will begin to better understand how the domain selling business works. It takes patience, time and a study of the market to understand what great domains are and why. With that in mind, do your research, keep your head up, and don't be quick to purchase and most important of all don't get discouraged and give up. After all, now that you have read this article you are one step ahead!

JC currently has an Ebay most watched auctions website.

Marketing And Promoting Your Ebay Store - By Jason Griffith

Owning an eBay store is in essence a business of marketing and promotion that is conducted by people who, by and large, know anywhere between nothing and very little about marketing and promotion.

The simple act of opening your eBay store in your eBay account, doing the basic layout with the Manage Your Store features, and creating item listings to populate the store inventory - that is the quick and easy part of owning an eBay store.

Once you have completed those steps, you might sit back feeling satisfied with your effort. You own an eBay store. People are going to flock to your store in droves. Or, are they?

The hard fact is, no, they are probably not going to flock to your eBay store in droves. If you do not market and promote your store, all you have done so far is create a piece of dead virtual real estate that will sit somewhere forgotten in a dark corner of electronic la-la land. The only visitor to the store will be you, when you check to see if something went wrong with your store and people perhaps cannot navigate to it, because your store inventory items are not selling at all.

Marketing and promoting your eBay store should start with you first acquiring some basic knowledge of marketing and promotion. Search your local bookstores or online stores like Amazon for titles that are targeted towards beginners in marketing and promotion. You need to understand what is important, what principles apply, and what works and what does not work.

Once you have acquired the basic knowledge then go through the promotional features that eBay has to offer. You will need to do a lot of reading and even more understanding. However, the features offered by eBay only reach as far as marketing and promoting your eBay store within eBay itself.

Unfortunately, that is often not enough to make a success of your eBay store.

It is very important that you market and promote your eBay store outside of eBay as well. To do this, you need to learn about, and apply many different techniques.

The following is a sample of the things you will need to do:

1) You must get your store pages into the major search engines so that people can find your store pages and item listings when they do their searches. This drives traffic to your eBay store and does not cost a penny.

2) You need to advertise your eBay store. You can accomplish this by advertising through one of the Pay per Click (PPC) services, such as Google AdWords and Yahoo Sponsored Search. Another method of advertising is offline through ads in the printed and broadcast media.

3) Person to person promotion is also important. For that you will need to use flyers, business cards, and other promotional material.

It is impossible to provide you with all the details in an article like this, but at least one can point you into the directions that you need to explore further.

Without vigorous marketing and promotion, your eBay store will probably just limp along at the very best. Without a basic understanding of marketing and promotion, you will not be able to market and promote your store.

How to Get Tons of Free Stuff to Sell on Ebay - By Bob Mathers

This simple method of getting free stuff works. Although I'm no longer doing this, I'm sure that if you follow these simple steps, you'll wind up with so much stuff that you might have to get someone to take some of your stuff.

It works like this, grab the weekend papers, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Go to the classified section where it lists 'Moving Sales'.. look for the ones that have addresses as well as phone numbers. Make a list of ones in your area. Visit some of them that are close, generally wait until Sunday to visit them and take note of what they have and how much they have left.

Now what you want to do is use a two pronged approach. After visiting the location, before leaving give them one of your business cards that you will have printed up before hand that states something like 'We remove unwanted reuseable items-FREE!' Next, sometime during the weekend, make a list of places that had a good bit of inventory and what you want to do is on Sunday evening mail out a letter to them with your letterhead again stating who are you, and that you'll take away unwanted reuseable items in a hurry...FREE

If they're moving real soon and still have a bunch of stuff left, they'll start to feel the pressure, and when you letter shows up stating again that you'll get rid of their unwanted stuff, well, you'll get your share of business.

One of the things that you'll have to be careful of is that the people may try and unload a lot of junk on you but just let them know as your ad states, you only take reuseable stuff. Now, if they want to throw in some nice pieces in order for you to take some of the other less desirable things, well, then that's your call.

From experience I can tell you that you'd be amazed at what people give away. I've received whole apartments full of furniture, antiques, even had people several times try to give me their pets; dogs, cats, rats and snakes. You just never know! One things for certain though is that you'll have lots of things to sell at flea markets and on Ebay and you might even find some real treasures along the way.

Finding And Profiting From Auto Auctions - By Robert Darby

Auto auctions are becoming quite popular events for the car buying community today because they present a wonderful chance for the average individual to be able to locate a good car at a very fair price. Auto auctions are also a very useful service for small used car dealerships as they can keep an ever changing stock of used automobiles on their lots and thus boost sales by keeping their customers returning to see what is new. Many dealers will also make use of auto auctions as a way of rotating their stock by taking cars that have been occupying space on the lot for some time to sell to the highest bidder and afterwards buying a new selection of cars from the profits.

Where Does One Look To Find Auto auctions?

Auto auctions are a very easy thing to locate in the Information Age in which we live. Many times the local newspaper will have several listings for various auto auctions around the area. Many times these auto auctions are for dealership overstocks or even government agency surplus sales and some amazing deals can be found by taking the time to look thru the offerings. Just pick up the local paper and give it a good glance, especially in the classified advertisements section, and chances are that you will likely find a auto auction near your hometown.

Another great method of finding the local auto auctions is to look in your telephone directory. If you use a search phrase such as "Automobile Auction Houses", you will almost certainly find an auction service in your metropolitan area. Other ideas for phrases to look for are "Auto Auction", "Used Car Auction" or "Auctioneers". Ask a few questions to the auction house and try to get your name on their mailing list and you may find yourself well on the way to locating the car of your dreams at a very reasonable price.

With the easy access to the Internet these days, why not take a peek at your favorite search engines result for auto auctions? Many times the search will lead to auto auctions that you can participate in with never leaving your home. One possible location of this sort is the ever popular Ebay Motors, where you can find almost any kind of vehicle for sale over the world wide web. Imagine sitting at your desk with a cold soda and a sandwich. Now imagine making a few keystrokes and buying a car. What could possibly make the transaction any more convenient?

If none of these options are for you, you could always ask around to find your local venue of auto auctions. Ask the local car show associations about upcoming auto auctions or contact the local chamber of commerce to find the popular auctioneers in your area. Another great source of information is the local new car dealerships, who can usually point you towards the auto auctions in your area but be prepared to endure a sales pitch for a new vehicle when you make the inquiry. After all, they really don't want to lose your business but most of the salesmen will be good sports about the situation if you are polite and let them at least try to sell you a new car before you leave to go save money and buy one at the auto auctions.

If you are looking for a car auction you should stop by the best online car auction site.

Tips for Selling Your Car on Ebay - By R Heavner

Selling a car on Ebay works much the same as selling any item, with the addition of a few extra steps to protect yourself and your buyer. Your first order of business, if you have not done so already, is to register an account with Ebay.

With that out of the way, you will need to gather together all relevant information about your vehicle. In addition to your title / registration, try and gather maintenance and repair receipts as well. Now is also a good time to begin taking photos. As a general rule, the more the better. Take photos of all four sides of the vehicle, close ups of any body damage, the engine compartment, and the interior. Include a photo of the odometer reading. Photos should be well focused and free of any distractions that draw your viewers attention away from the car. Good results can often be obtained on a slightly overcast day in an empty parking lot.

Now that you are ready to begin your listing, move on to the Ebay Motors page. You will need to enter the VIN and complete a checklist of information about your car. When writing your description it is important that you be both thorough and completely honest. Include:

  • a complete description of the vehicle, including any damage not seen in the photographs
  • include any options or modifications not covered in the checklist
  • a description of any mechanical problems
  • if you have replaced any major components, include information
  • any special circumstances i.e. car was garaged, non-smoking driver, no pets, etc.
  • if you have maintenance records, indicate that they are available
  • the status of the title, warranty, and inspection
Your terms for the auction or BIN should include:

  • A clear explanation of what form of payment you will accept and when it will be due. As a general rule the seller should require a deposit within 3 days of the transaction. Be clear about the amount and method of deposit you require as well as what form of payment you will accept for the balance.
  • Who is responsible for picking up vehicle. The seller is generally responsible for arranging and paying for any shipping service , etc. Again, make sure to spell that out in your terms.
In the course of your listing, be prepared for many buyers asking questions about the vehicle. Check your email frequently and respond quickly and courteously.

If your car is successfully sold, you will need to work out final arrangements with the buyer for payment and pick up. Most buyers tend to pick up their car in person, however if a shipping service is required make sure that you and your buyer agree upon a licensed bonded service. The final step in the transaction is transferring of the title. As the rules vary from state to state, it is wise to first check with your local Department of Motor Vehicles regarding their policies.

Five Basic Things An Ebay Store Must Do Right - By Jason Griffith

Having a store on eBay is an exciting venture, at least at the outset. You have visions of millions of eBay buyers who will be visiting your store, buy from you, and the money will just pour in.

Anyone who has had an eBay store knows better. Competition is very tough. It takes hard work and a lot of marketing to drive traffic to your eBay store.

Then, when people do arrive at your eBay store, what do they see? Do they see the run of the mill, the "me too" look, the amateurish storefront that many, if not most, eBay stores present to the world?

You have only one opportunity to make a first impression. In a second or two, the eBay buyer is going to categorize you into professional or amateur, into trustworthy or dodgy.

Here are five basic things you must do right to give you the best chance of survival.

Number One: Treat Your eBay Store as a Serious Business

So many eBay stores appear to have been hastily bolted together, almost as if it were something that the eBay seller did late one Sunday evening. Nobody wants to buy from somebody who appears to be in it just for the money. An unprofessional eBay storefront gives the impression of an unprofessional eBay seller who simply wants to take people's money and run.

Number Two: Portray Yourself as a Knowledgeable Professional

It is astounding how few eBay sellers make use of the About Me page. That one page has the ability to either establish or destroy your credibility. The page gives the eBay seller the opportunity to tell the eBay buyer why she should buy from him.

Look at it from an eBay buyer's perspective. You would much rather buy an item from somebody who clearly knows something about the item, than from someone who doesn't. More importantly, you would much rather repeatedly buy from someone who is knowledgeable about the particular item or category of item.

You might be a guru. Nobody will know it if you do not tell them.

Number Three: Give all the Necessary Information to Facilitate Buyer Decision

Remember, the eBay buyer is forking out hard-earned cash for your item. You need to give them the required business information to ensure them that: a) they are paying a fair or better price, b) they are getting value for money, c) they won't get any nasty surprises of hidden costs, and d) they can get their money back if they are not satisfied with the purchase.

That's the purpose of eBay Store Policies.

Number Four: Give Special Attention to your eBay Storefront Above the Fold

It's that first impression issue again. What do eBay buyers see when they land on your main storefront page? Do they see a tacky image? "Unprofessional, see ya," hit the back button! Do they see the most expensive items at the top of the list? "Expensive," hit the back button! Of course, YOU would want an eBay buyer to see your most expensive item first. However, is that what the eBay buyer wants to see? Probably not.

Number Five: Make It Easy for the eBay Buyer to Find Items

You are one amongst thousands. Unless you are selling something completely unique, nobody is going to take an hour, or half an hour, or ten minutes, or even one minute, to try and find an item in your eBay store that they could also find somewhere else.

Wisely use the categories and promotion boxes of your eBay store. The categories are like aisles in your eBay store. You do not want to force people to rummage through the entire store if they came for a specific item. Why not? Won't they see other things they might want to buy? The answer is, because they won't. They will just leave and look somewhere else until they easily find what they are looking for.

Conclusion

It might sound very tough, but if your eBay store is failing or is struggling to get off the ground, the reason is probably you. Are you treating your eBay store as a serious business? Are you portraying yourself as a professional and knowledgeable business person? Are you presenting the best image possible and are you making it as easy as possible for the eBay buyer to buy from your eBay store? Think about it.

How to Find and Use eBay and PayPal Coupons - By Diana Ratliff

Did you know EBay and Paypal have been giving away electronic discount coupons for some time and hundreds of users have been cashing in on them? Also called “redemption codes,” these special savings opportunities are little known but can save you substantial sums. And since coupons can be used on any item from any seller that accepts PayPal, your selection is huge!

If you have received a coupon for eBay via email, you are one of the lucky and select few. eBay and PayPal seldom send coupon or gift certificate offers to all members, only to those who meet certain criteria.

For example, sometimes eBay will use electronic discount coupons to entice a member back to the site. This means that if you were a fairly active buyer on eBay and suddenly stopped buying, they may email you an offer of a discount on your next purchase. This kind of coupon is usually accompanied by your email address, which means it is only valid for you to use and will have an expiry date.

Sometimes EBay offers electronic discount coupons to a certain group of members. If they are experiencing low sales in a particular area, they may send the coupon codes to users who have previously purchased those items.

eBay also offers more general coupons. Even though they may originally be emailed to targeted members, the offers can be used by other buyers who met the stated criteria. A good rule of thumb to follow is that if it doesn’t reference an email address, the coupon can be shared.

Paypal also offers occasional discount coupons by email for different promotional reasons. Sometimes they are for every user and, other times, they are for certain users, groups or areas. A recent promotion at Christmas time featured free shipping and discounts of $5 to $20 from selected online merchants. PayPal promotions are also run via electronic discount coupons and have expiry dates and conditions of use.

Where to Find eBay and PayPal Coupons

Coupons that can be used by others are often mentioned on eBay’s chat forum, and in forums associated with other websites that announce bargains and deals. You can also find these types of coupons by doing a web search for “eBay coupon code” (or “Paypal coupon code”), but many such links are expired and some may be fraudulent, so be careful.

Restrictions on Using eBay and PayPal Coupons

The most important thing to remember is that you must find and buy an item that accepts PayPal and then pay with PayPal. You will only see the discount when using PayPal as payment. If you have a coupon code and plan to use it on an eBay purchase, it is your responsibility to verify before buying that the seller does accept PayPal. You are still obligated to pay the seller for the item even though you cannot use your eBay coupon or gift certificate.

Currently, coupons are only valid for items listed on eBay.com, eBay.ca, and eBay.co.uk.

Make sure that the email address on the coupon is associated with your PayPal account; if it isn’t, add that email address to your PayPal account.

All eBay discount coupons have expiration dates.

How to Redeem

Generally, a digital discount coupon is a long code that you enter on the payment screen when you win an item. On PayPal there is a box labeled “Coupons, Gift Certificates and eBay Anything Points”. This is where you enter the coupon code number. If validated, the discount will be automatically deducted from the balance due. If your coupon doesn’t cover the total cost of the item, the remainder of the funds will be deducted from your PayPal account or the bank account associated with it.

The person selling the item has no indication that you have used a coupon (the savings come from eBay, not from the seller) and the sale goes proceeds as usual.

Given the fact that you can buy unique and highly desirable items on eBay at very attractive prices to begin with, the possibility of adding to your savings by using an eBay or PayPal coupon is not one to be missed. By making regular checks to see if there are any discounts currently available via eBay or Paypal, you can be one of the people taking advantage of these savings.

Easy eBay Pickings From A Little-Known Method! - By Ian Mcintosh

As eBay becomes more and more popular, there are two distinctly different types of entrepreneur looking to make money from the site.

The first is the “standard” eBay seller; he or she will buy up other people’s unwanted goods at garage sales, house clearances, car boot sales and offline real-world auctions. They will then spend a lot of time and effort itemizing and categorising these products, photographing them and writing eBay listings for them on an individual basis.

This is a passion for some and they love doing it, every part of the process is a challenge – getting the best price for the goods, finding quicker ways of compiling listings, dealing with improving the service and handling of the items once they have been won – all of these fire up the true eBay enthusiast.

The other category of eBay money-maker is a different animal altogether. Their only concern is making as much money from eBay as quickly as possible and with the minimum amount of effort on their part.

These people are looking for ideas that are outside of the normal eBay buying and selling marketplace. They like to think outside the box and be creative. The good news is that there are some excellent off-beat strategies available to the sharp eBay marketer which can often make more money than just selling stuff by auction, and do it a lot quicker too.

One such method uses the vastly underrated power of eBay Stores. These are virtual shop areas within eBay dealing in any type of goods imaginable, from cheap trinkets and DVDs to large scale industrial machinery and real estate, it’s all there somewhere in an eBay store.

The great thing about eBay Stores is their affordability, their price means that they are open to almost anyone with a few spare dollars. The bonus too is that items are dirt-cheap to list so you can list loads of them and leave them running for months at a time if you want.

And this one little “secret” is the basis of how some people are making absolute fortunes with their eBay Stores. List a particular type of item, leave it running and you can profit endlessly in a number of ways from your Store.

Ebay Stores are probably the hottest opportunity on eBay at the moment and if you are the type of person who is interested in making a lot of money quickly from eBay, opening your own eBay Store might well be the opportunity you’ve been looking for.

On the other hand if you’re a confirmed bargain seeker who loves the smell of old books, I might just have a tip for a great bubble wrap vendor….!

eBay Sales 101 - By Mark Justice

For years now, everyone has talked about eBay and the possibilities of getting rich from sales on the auction site. However, you never believe such stories quickly, and now that it’s been going strong for so long, you have finally thought about jumping on board. Yet, you know absolutely nothing about how the site actually functions. You can’t begin to imagine selling items on the Internet and having strangers pay you through an online service. How does it all work?

First of all, eBay requires all users to register. As purchases are completed, members become “verified” and receive feedback from other buyers and sellers regarding their satisfaction with the transaction. You can read through any member’s feedback or view a percentage of satisfied customers for anyone prior to engaging in your transaction.

Basically, eBay allows people wishing to dispense with items or sell merchandise to reap the greatest possible benefit by offering the entire nation (and even many in international locations) to bid on the item for sale, just as they would at a physical auction. At the same time, buyers can review an item and decide themselves how much they are willing to pay to purchase the item. A buyer will set their own price (which must at least meet the minimum request set by the seller), and the highest bidder wins the item.

Several payment options are available; money orders are accepted by most eBay sellers, and some will accept personal and cashier’s checks. However, the preferred method of payment by most is eBay’s PayPal service. This allows individuals to pay either by credit or debit, or by electronic check. The money is deposited into the seller’s “account”, and it can either be used to pay for eBay fees and other merchandise, or a PayPal debit card can be issued so that the money can be used anywhere that major credit cards are accepted.

The eBay auction site is a great place for people to interact, as long as purchasers are willing to wait for the items to ship to them. Great discounts can be found, and many collectibles, antiques, and hard to find items are also available on eBay. It can also be a great source of income for sellers, supplementing a regular career or even becoming a career itself. Using eBay is easy, and with a little practice, you can become an expert at the process.

Increase Your Ebay Sales By Shopping At Wal-Mart - By Mike Perras

Now at first glance you probably think I'm kidding right? On the contrary I am living proof that this can work week in and week out.

Let me just cut to the chase for you. Before Christmas I was, like you, looking for all those special little gifts. On this particular day I was Christmas shopping in WalMart. I was looking for two things I already had priced, Ipods and storage cards for a digital camera .. nice little stocking stuffers I'd say. That day I found the smaller 512mg size iPod selling for $49.00, no special sale tags, just $49.00 .. in fact, they weren't even marked, I had to find someone and ask the price. These use to sell at WalMart for $79.00 just a month ago, I scooped up 4 right on the spot. Off I go to the camera section and look for the small storage cards for digital cameras. I was looking for the 2gig size and low and behold it wasn't marked either .. price tag $39.00 WOW!! These were $110.00 each just a few weeks back. Again, I scooped up 4 cards. Off to the computer monitor section I went and was pricing a LCD flatscreen. Well there was a Digistart 27" LCD widescreen computer monitor/TV for $499.00 and again, I just had to pick one up, this unit even had HDMI plug ins.

I rush home to see these iPods selling and getting $80.00 and more each on eBay, the digital storage cards were getting about the same and the 27" LCD widescreen monitor was back to it's regular price of $699.00 a week later.

Here's the point. You can shop at WalMart on virtually any given day and find incredible deals, but you have to know your prices first obviously. The most obvious bonus, besides the sale price, is that these items are all brand new, and if there are any issues at all, WalMart will take them back, without question. An eBayer's dream if you ask me!

What I have just described can very easily generate an extra $100.00 a week in clear profit and that's a net gain of $5,000.00 a year, taking very little risk. If you were more aggressive you can see how that could easily turn into an extra $20,000.00 or more per year.

Selling brand new, in demand, quality items at terrific prices .. simply as good as it gets!

Find Merchandise Wholesale With a Wholesale Product Directory - By Keith Thompson

If you’re searching to find merchandise wholesale to use in your new auction or even offline business, then you may well consider the use of a wholesale product directory. This can save you oodles of time and heartache by helping you find consistent sources for wholesale products, even name brand items, that you can turn around and sell for a healthy profit either on eBay or other auction sites, or at your own outlets offline. There are many tips eBay can offer up right on their own site that will save you gobs of time and money. Take advantage of these. These will give you loads of ideas and help you narrow your searching quite a bit.

A good wholesale product directory can set you up with various choices among name brand merchandise to help you get your business up and running. Sell on eBay - By Michael Gosford

p>Today eBay is the number one option for many would-be entrepreneurs wishing to sell from their home. Trading on eBay has become a great home business opportunity for many. However though it is possible to sell practically everything on eBay, it should be known to the prospective seller that there are some products that are not permitted to sell on eBay.

Most items are copyright infringement products which are not permitted to sell no eBay. This may land the seller in prison. Knock offs of different music, TV shows and movies are not permitted to sell on eBay. A perfect example is the people who sneak cameras into a newly released movie to create a 'bootleg' movie while crouching behind a camera. The copy is always crummy, and not worth investing in.

It is known that software and computer games can be copied and sold through the internet. However, this is not permitted, and termed illegal by US laws. However, these products can be sold if and when you had bought a copy legitimately previously, but no longer want to use it.
Products belonging to the 'replica' market for designer sunglasses, clothing and handbags are forbidden to sell on eBay. Though these products are sold in physical stores in the US, it is not permitted to sell on eBay. There are also some lazy and cunning sellers who aim at stealing copyrighted material from others, and then sell on eBay.

This is something that is not permitted for a seller to sell on eBay. There is a program called VERO (Verified Rights Owner) in eBay which removes such offending products on auction. However, there is unfortunately no penalty attached to the seller for such an offence. Another product that is not permitted to sell on eBay is alcoholic beverages.

If required, it is permitted to sell alcoholic beverage containers, especially containers of wine, at its value. It is not permitted for a seller to sell on eBay products having tobacco like cigarettes, cigars, smokeless tobacco and even the various coupons available for such items.

It is not permitted for anyone to sell firearms on eBay. It is forbidden by US law to sell on eBay guns, revolvers and other firearms that are dangerous to people. In addition to this, the Federal Trade Commission forbids people to sell on eBay any of the satellite and cable TV descramblers.
It is not permitted by anyone to sell on eBay products related to animals and wildlife. This includes stuffed birds and pelts of endangered species. Sales of ivory, marine products, tortoise shell and other products related to animals are limitedly sold in eBay. As this is a delicate topic, if you wish to sell on eBay animal related products, you have to first understand rules pertaining to this to avoid falling in trouble.

Starting An Auction-Based Business - By Tracey Wilson

Many people are searching for that true work-at-home business that will not necessarily make them rich, but will give them the opportunity to stay at home and make enough money to support them and their family.

There are many people who are making good money selling on auction sites. This is a wonderful way to earn an income, especially if you have a product that is in demand. Be sure before diving into the business of selling, that you do your homework. Check into sites of those offering similar products or services. You want to be sure you can be competitive in price and quality. Also check into how well these products or services are selling. Is there a certain time of year that is better for the business you have in mind? Is your product or services “location” targeted? (Areas where your product or services are more desirable)?

Also make sure you have enough time to donate to your business. If it involves creating items, i.e.: jewelry, soaps, candles, and etc can you keep up with supply in demand? As well as time it takes to package and ship your items?

It’s a good idea to start your business with a decent quality of items pre-made. This way you will more easily be able to fill orders in a timely manner; thereby increasing your repeat buyer clientele.

Before posting the items for sale, it is imperative that you make a business plan. Take inventory of your supplies. I know for many this can be a daunting undertaking, as you may have been collecting supplies for years. In your business plan take into account how much the supplies cost to make the items, and how much your time is worth. You want to make sure that you are able to offer products in demand that will also make you money when taking the time to make them into consideration. You should include the time and cost of packaging and shipping. It is my opinion that you should be very honest about the cost of shipping. I have come across many sellers who offer their merchandise at cheap prices to pull you in and then “slam” you with outrageous shipping and handling charges.

To me, this is a definite turn-off. I do not buy from these people, and am angry when they try to ‘scam’ me with the “great deal” they’re offering. I feel you will sale more and people will trust you to deliver quality items. Give actual shipping cost and if you need to charge them a dollar or two for handling costs, let them know – most will find your business practices fair and acceptable, and will happily pay it for quality items that are packaged with thought and care toward bad weather, rough handling, etc …

Thousands are happily into the auction business and doing quite well. Decide how much time and effort you want to invest in your business. Organize your supplies, lay out your business plan, and go for it!

An Innovative Way to Buy and Sell on eBay for both Experienced and Novice Users - By Rose Mary

An innovative way to buy and sell on eBay has been developed for both experience and novice Users. This method exploits the mistakes made by eBay sellers where they have misspelled the words in the title of their listing. This innovative method made used of a software whereby it can extract those listings that have misspelled words in the title. The Users of the software can then make use of this information to trade on eBay.

In eBay, there are many items listed for auction per day. And out of the listings, thousands of the listed items have misspelled title. Majority of the eBay buyers will search for items using the "title search" only when they are searching for an item to buy.

If an item has a misspelled title, buyers will not be able locate it when performing a search. Let’s take a "Cordless Drill" as an example. It is not surprising that the title may be spelt as "Corless Drill" by the seller. Since the title is misspelled, the buyer who wants to buy a cordless drill will not be able to find it when he typed in the correct spelling in the search box. This is a lose-lose situation for both the seller and the buyer.

However, with the newly developed software, this problem can be solved. This software will be able to extract those titles with misspelled words according to the categories the User specified. The developer of the software has the following real life experience.

Someone was trying to sell a "Microsoft XP Professional". However, the Microsoft was misspelled as "Mircosoft". The software developer bought it at $107.82 and resold it at $276.5 making a profit of $168.68.

Another case was "Sony Mavica Digital Camera". The camera was misspelled as "Camara". The software developer bought it at $44 and resold it at $185 making a profit of $141.

Yet another case was a "Playstation2 System". The Playstation2 was misspelled as "PLaystaion2". The software developer bought it for $127.00 and resold it at $265 making a profit of $138.

This software is suitable for those who want to trade on eBay and do no not know what to sell. The results from the software can serve as a guide. He can search for all the misspelled items using the software and decide which item he is interested to sell. Since the items are misspelled, it is likely that no one will find them. Therefore, there is a high possibility that he can buy it at a very low price. With that, he can resell it at a higher price, thus making a profit. This software will help him to find products and at low price to sell on eBay.

Whereas for those who buy frequently on eBay, this will be a piece of useful software as well. They can use it to search for all the misspelled items and shop for the items they would like to buy. Again, since these items have misspelled title, it is likely that no one will find them. Therefore, the buyers will be able to buy it at a low price. Thus there will be a big saving for the buyers.

Profiting from misspelled title is an innovative way to trade on eBay, whether for buyers or sellers. With the help of the new software, locating thousands of misspelled items is both fast and easy. With the information, the Users will then be able to make a decision on what to sell and at what price on eBay. This is a win-win situation for all eBay users.

Keeping Good Relations, With Your Ebay Buyers - By Mark Kenny

As a seller it's easy to get frustrated with newer ebay members and those who don't always read though your auction listing before bidding or asking a question thats already answered within the listing.

If your trying to make an income on ebay, regardless of whether its a hobby, part time business or full time business your regarded as a professional seller. So, it's essential to remain professional at all times.

Below, are my top five tips for being a professional ebay seller, and keeping good relations with other ebay members though every step of the transaction.

1. Answer emails promptly and politely.

There's nothing worst, than waiting for a response from sellers - especially when your eager to bid or use buy it now. Every ebay member who takes the time to email you, is an interested member. No matter how bad the email is written, spelt or what time it's received. I've almost dismissed emails in the past, thinking from the tone they were not serious about bidding and the sender of the email has gone on to buy multiple items off me - both on and off ebay. Always take the time to respond.

2. Leave feedback promptly

Some sellers use automated feedback tools. This automatically leaves feedback once the buyer has paid or has left feedback for the seller. However, a lot of sellers pretend to use these tools to protect their feedback, claiming feedback will not be left until it is left for them.

As a seller I understand this point of view. However, as a buyer on eBay as long as I bid and pay for the item my responsibilities as a buyer are complete. If I buy an item off you, and it's not as described I have no obligation to try and work things out with you before leaving feedback.

Leaving positive feedback at the earliest opportunity will show you have acted in good faith, and will give your buyer more reason to contact you should things go wrong. Don't hold your buyers to feedback blackmail.

3. Send off goods immediately

How long do you have to wait for your ebay purchases to arrive. If a seller only dispatches items once or twice a week you'll probably have to wait a while. I once waited three weeks for an item to be sent which is extremely annoying. Don't put your winning buyers in the same position, especially if they uses Buy-It-Now so they don't have to wait until the end of a seven or ten day auction to win the item.

4. Double check everything

I've just read a post on the ebay forum, with a seller complaining that he has got negative because he accidently sent out the incorrect item to a winning bidder. Accidents happen, but it wasn't the buyers fault. It's essential to double check everything before you send it out. Why should a winning bidder have to go though the hassle of returning an item and awaiting redelivery of the correct item. They shouldn't.

5. Accept Responsibility

Things do and can occasionally go wrong, even for the best ebay sellers. Items go out of stock, payments may come in but get unnoticed. On many occasions I've been sent a payment, but missed it because the paypal notification didn't arrive. If it's your fault, take the time to apologise, insist it's an isolated incident and regain the buyers confidence. Keep them informed of whats happening & how long it will take to resolve.
